Biofuels- The Future

Benefits The fuel to our future... One concerning issue that the topic of biofuels brings, is the high demand of feedstock and land needed to meet the requirements for this new technology. Though some may argue that this is a big disadvantage, the benefits of biofuels outweigh this matter. Using our own resources of land is in our greatest benefit with the advancement of biofuels. The benefits of biofuels include the following: (Citation 16) Biofuels allows for a greener world using renewable energy. Biofuels will eliminate the dependency on polluting gasoline. Biofuels=a healthier and less polluted environment. Biodiesel will create fuel efficiency by reducing climate-altering carbon dioxide release. Biofuels reduces toxic emissions by more than 80%. Biodiesel creates a safer fuel due to its high ignition point. Biofuel is biodegradable and proven nontoxic by the Environmental Protection Agency. (Citation 5)		Biotech What biotech offers biofuels... Biotechnology allows for the development of more sustainable energy sources by engineering greater nutrients of biofuels. With the use of biotech, natural resources that are used to create biofuels can be engineered to consists of greater nutrients; therefore maximizing the potential of biofuels at a greater impact . Developments in the plant biotech industry can lead to biofuel crops containing more oil per unit. Plant biotechnology is on a wave of enhancing a more sustainable and beneficial source of biofuel for the generations to come. (Citation 6)
